Details

Several active Facebook groups serve as real-time housing boards for Portland's queer and trans community. These groups are often faster than any formal channel for sublets, short-term housing, and emergency crash space — and the community context means clients can be out about their identity without fear. These groups are best used for: - Sublets and month-to-month situations not listed on Craigslist or Zillow - Roommate searches in queer-friendly households - Emergency "anyone have a couch" asks (sometimes answered within hours) - Leads on informal housing situations that never make it to formal listings **How to use them with clients:** Help the client draft a brief, specific post: who they are (pronouns, situation, no personal details beyond what they're comfortable sharing), what they need (dates, budget, location), and how to contact them. Posts that include a photo, specific budget, and a move-in timeline get the most responses. **Note for case managers:** These are peer communities with their own norms. They're not intake systems — they require the client (or a trusted advocate) to post and respond to messages. Some groups require admin approval of membership before posting. **Groups to add here:** [This resource is a work in progress — WERQ TOGETHER maintains a list of specific group links. Contact Eli at eli@werqt.org to get the current list before referring clients.]

Eligibility
